Italian shipyard Baglietto has launched the 40-metre superyacht L’Instant from its facility in La Spezia. This latest addition to the DOM 133 series stands out from sisterships Bee, Astera, and Jules as the first to feature an interposed hybrid propulsion system.
The new hybrid system allows the yacht’s diesel engines to be compatible with HVO biofuels, which can reportedly reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90%. The innovative setup consists of a diesel endothermic engine and an ultracompact hybrid unit, with an electric motor positioned between the main engine and the gearbox.
Since the hybrid system requires additional technical space, the 5.8-metre tender and two Jet Skis have been relocated to the upper deck, where a 1,600 kg davit has been installed for easy launching and storage.
Sustainable Design Meets Custom Interiors
L’Instant features the signature angular profile of the DOM 133 series, penned by Stefano Vafiadis, while her highly customized interiors are the work of Leonardo Santi. A key personalization includes moving the galley from the main deck to the lower deck, allowing for an additional VIP cabin. The VIP cabin and master suite both feature automated windows for natural ventilation, while custom portholes in the lower deck guest cabins serve the same function.
Further modifications include a redesigned internal staircase connecting all decks up to the sundeck, which now features a multi-purpose bar with a dumbwaiter. The original pool area has also been replaced with a fully equipped outdoor gym.
Interior details remain undisclosed, but Baglietto has confirmed the use of eco-friendly materials, including carpets and fabrics made from recycled ocean plastics and regenerated industrial waste.
Performance & Sustainability
L’Instant delivers a maximum speed of 17 knots when running on diesel power, while her full-electric mode allows her to cruise at almost 10 knots. The yacht can also operate for nine hours at anchor in zero-emission mode, ensuring total silence and reduced environmental impact.
With the launch of L’Instant, Baglietto continues its push towards sustainable innovation in yachting, setting a new benchmark for the DOM 133 series.
