History was written on the Bay of Palma as the 24-metre Wally sailing yacht Rose etched her name into the record books, becoming the first-ever yacht to claim three consecutive overall victories at the Superyacht Cup Palma. The achievement marks a defining moment in the event’s 29-year legacy and further solidifies Rose’s status as a modern racing legend.
🏁 A Showdown for the Ages
Heading into St. Regis Race Day, the final day of the regatta, Rose was tied at the top of the leaderboard with Cervo, a 39m Tripp-designed racer, and the 35m Southern Wind yacht Gelliceaux. With each yacht sitting on four points, the stage was set for a tense finale under classic Palma conditions—flat seas and a steady 10–16 knot breeze.
In Class A, all eyes were on the duel between Cervo and Gelliceaux, with the latter ultimately edging out a win by just over a minute on corrected time—enough to take the class but not yet the overall title.
Meanwhile in Class B, Rose was locked in competition with the Y Yacht Sveam and four agile Baltic 68 Café Racers: Open Season, Ganesha, Pink Gin Verde, and Scorpione Hormar. While Open Season dominated the class with three race wins, none of the Café Racers were eligible for the overall trophy due to superyacht classification rules.
With Rose securing strong finishes across all races, she ended tied on six points with Gelliceaux—but claimed the overall title on countback, thanks to competing in a larger class.
🗣️ “What a Phenomenal Event”
“We’re really thrilled to have gotten the top result for the third year in a row,” said Rose’s captain, Ben Potter. “To make history at the Superyacht Cup Palma is wonderful. The boat went well, the crew fought hard, and we are absolutely elevated.”
Potter also praised the event’s evolving competitiveness:
“Having the Café Racers with us gave us more competition this time—we really felt like we were racing hard.”
🌊 A Fitting Finish
Event Director Kate Branagh applauded the impressive fleet and seamless execution:
“We’ve seen incredible racing from an outstanding lineup of yachts in near-perfect conditions. A huge thank you to all the owners, captains and crews, and to our partners—especially Club de Mar-Mallorca, our new Venue Partner, and St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca, sponsor of today’s finale.”
The celebration culminated in a vibrant prize-giving ceremony at the SYC Regatta Village, supported by RSB Rigging Solutions, a loyal event partner marking its 20th anniversary this year.
“What a year to be part of,” said RSB Managing Director Steve Branagh. “This historic win will be remembered for a long time.”
