The legendary German shipbuilder Lürssen has officially launched the awe-inspiring 134.2-metre superyacht Project Deep Blue from its Bremen facility, marking one of the yard’s most significant and secretive launches to date. With delivery expected before November 2025, Deep Blue now stands among the largest and most visually striking yachts in the world.

A First Look at a Five-Deck Giant

Long shrouded in secrecy, Project Deep Blue only revealed her form to the public in the past week. Now, with her full silhouette on display, enthusiasts are getting their first detailed look at a superyacht that blends grandeur with bold design innovation.

Key features visible from the launch include:

  • Two expansive swimming pools
  • A heli-capable bow deck
  • A dramatic sloping mast
  • Striking overhangs painted in deep electric blue
  • Unconventional lower-deck glazing, suggesting possible glass-floored lounges or submerged observation spaces

The nameplate “Deep Blue” also confirms that the yacht will likely retain her project name as her official title.

Design Echoes & Structural Power

Observers have drawn visual comparisons to Lürssen’s 115.1-metre Ahpo (now Lady Jorgia), particularly in the tapered forward decks and flowing lines of the superstructure. However, Deep Blue exhibits a distinct identity—perhaps more futuristic and expressive in tone.

With a reported gross tonnage of around 9,000 GT, she is expected to offer vast internal volumes across her five decks, likely housing a multitude of luxury amenities. While few interior details have been confirmed, the scale alone suggests accommodations for a large party of guests and crew, plus expansive wellness, leisure, and dining spaces.

Built on the New Bremen Slipway

Project Deep Blue was one of the first vessels constructed using Lürssen’s state-of-the-art slipway, engineered to support the largest and heaviest builds in the yard’s modern history. The facility upgrade reinforces Lürssen’s capability to meet the growing demand for over-100m superyachts.

Construction on Deep Blue began in 2022, and her hull was last seen in early 2023—still in its skeletal stage. Now, in just two years, she has transformed into a towering symbol of engineering precision and design prowess.

Part of a Growing Superfleet

Deep Blue is one of 11 superyachts currently under construction at Lürssen, solidifying the yard’s dominance in the ultra-large yacht segment. Other upcoming builds include:

  • Project Jassj – 102.7 metres, technically launched last year
  • Project Cosmos – 114.2 metres, Lürssen’s first yacht to feature fuel cell technology, with delivery expected in 2026

⛵ What’s Next?

Although Lürssen has yet to release official details about Deep Blue’s builder, design team, or owner, speculation is rampant. With her radical glass architecture, massive scale, and highly customized layout, Deep Blue could very well represent the next chapter in experiential superyacht design—blending high aesthetics with tech-driven functionality and range.

As delivery nears, more information is expected to emerge, but for now, Project Deep Blue remains one of the most intriguing and closely watched yachts of 2025.
