Sanlorenzo Marks a New Era in Steel Superyachts with the Launch of 58 Steel

Fifteen years after Sanlorenzo reshaped the identity of steel yachts, the Italian shipyard opens a new chapter in its evolution with the debut of the 58Steel — a refined successor to the acclaimed 57Steel and a decisive step toward the future of sustainable, intelligent superyacht design.

Blending an all-new diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system with unprecedented onboard liveability, the 58Steel perfectly embodies the brand’s founding pillars: elegance, proportion, innovation — not simply “made to measure,” but made for tomorrow.

The Evolution of a Segment Leader

When Sanlorenzo launched its first steel yacht in 2010, the industry took notice. It was proof that steel could be powerful without losing lightness, and architectural without losing elegance. Since then, the shipyard’s steel line has become one of the most highly regarded in the <2,000 GT segment.

Now, the new 58Steel — designed by Zuccon International Project — pushes the boundaries further, with:

  • A new platform, 1 metre longer than the 57Steel
  • A wider beam at 10.8 metres
  • Volumes comparable to a 64-metre yacht
  • The first diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system in the Sanlorenzo steel range

The result is not just more space, but a new philosophy of privacy, silence and experiential living.

“The 58Steel embodies the belief of a superyacht that redefines proportion, privacy and performance, offering a new dimension of silent, sustainable cruising.”
Massimo Perotti, Executive Chairman, Sanlorenzo

A New Concept of Onboard Space

Every deck onboard the 58Steel has been rethought, with layouts that rival larger superyachts and adapt to the needs of private or charter ownership.

🔹 Two full-beam VIP cabins on the Lower Deck
🔹 A Supreme VIP suite on the Main Deck
🔹 An Owner’s Deck with panoramic suite, pool, office, dressing room and cinema-lounge

At the stern, the three-sided beach club — complete with bar, hammam, gym and beauty salon — becomes one of the yacht’s signature spaces. When open to the sea, it offers the most immersive connection between water, silence and wellbeing ever achieved on a Sanlorenzo yacht.

A Silent Revolution: Diesel-Electric Hybrid Propulsion

At the heart of the 58Steel lies the most advanced engineering system ever used on a Sanlorenzo steel yacht:

  • 5 × 425 kW generators
  • 1 MWh lithium battery pack
  • Up to 2 hours of silent cruising
  • Up to 8 hours of zero-emissions “hotel mode” at anchor
  • Reduced emissions by ~10% vs. traditional propulsion
  • Azimuthal pods for manoeuvrability and noise reduction

Most impressively, the entire engine room has been compressed onto a single deck, unlocking over 40 m² of additional liveable volume for guest use — a milestone in superyacht engineering.

“This yacht represents evolution, not repetition. With its diesel-electric propulsion system at the core, the 58Steel unlocks new horizons of freedom: more space, more light, greater efficiency and a profound connection to the sea.”
Tommaso Vincenzi, CEO, Sanlorenzo

Interior Philosophy: Purity Through Detail

The interior design — curated by the Sanlorenzo Style Department — reflects the brand’s signature “understated luxury,” combining:

  • Dark structured woods
  • Calacatta Borghini marble
  • Mother-of-pearl textures
  • Champagne metal accents

The result is a masterclass in quiet sophistication and architectural balance, with natural light elevated as a design material in its own right.

Exterior Identity: Sculptural Strength, Effortless Serenity

Zuccon International Project’s exterior lines are unmistakably Sanlorenzo — sculptural, architectural and disciplined. The extended Bridge Deck enhances both function and silhouette, while the three-sided beach club remains the yacht’s defining statement; a luminous retreat where precision engineering transforms into pure emotion.

A New Chapter Begins

The first 58Steel — Perla Lunar — has been sold by Monaco-based brokerage Arcon Yachts, marking the beginning of this next era for Sanlorenzo.

As the shipyard celebrates 15 years of craftsmanship in steel, the launch of the 58Steel reasserts its leadership in the 55- to 60-metre category. It is more than evolution — it is proof that technology and emotion are not opposites, but partners.

Because at Sanlorenzo, steel is not a material of excess — it is a material of meaning.
And its story continues.
