Yacht Club de Monaco Confirms Dates for the 6th La Belle Classe Explorer Awards

-

The Yacht Club de Monaco, under the presidency of HSH Prince Albert II, is proud to announce the 6th La Belle Classe Explorer Awards, a distinguished programme recognising yachts that go beyond cruising — those that advance science, exploration, and ocean understanding.

With its next edition set for March 24th, 2026 in Monaco, the Explorer Awards invite yachts and their crews to submit entries that reflect purposeful voyaging — journeys that push boundaries, inspire discovery, and contribute to our collective knowledge of the seas.

A Mission Beyond Luxury

In a world where yachting is often associated with luxury and lifestyle, the Explorer Awards remind us that some yachts travel not just for beauty or speed, but for meaning:

  • Some sail further into remote waters
  • Some seek answers to scientific questions
  • Some open new horizons of understanding

The Explorer Awards celebrate these missions — acknowledging vessels that integrate exploration, research, and environmental stewardship into their voyages. By doing so, the programme amplifies yachting’s potential to support science, protect the oceans, and deepen humanity’s connection with the unknown.

Sailing with Purpose

As the organisers put it, “Let’s sail with purpose: shaping the future of yachting through science & exploration.” This philosophy encapsulates a growing movement within the marine community — one that values adventure with impact, and exploration with responsibility.

Leadership & Vision

The awards are chaired by Richard Wiese, President of The Explorers Club, bringing together a global network of scientific and exploratory expertise. Under his leadership, the Explorer Awards serve not just as recognition, but as a platform for collaboration between mariners, researchers, and innovators.

Explorer Dock: A Hub for Expedition Vessels

In support of the awards, the Yacht Club de Monaco will host an Explorer Dock from 22–24 March 2026. This dedicated area in Monaco’s marina offers priority berthing for awards candidates — creating a dynamic hub where expedition yachts, crews, scientists, and supporters can gather, exchange insights, and celebrate purposeful yachting.

Why It Matters

The La Belle Classe Explorer Awards stand at the intersection of yachting, science, and stewardship. As the industry embraces sustainability and responsibility, the awards highlight how yachts can contribute far beyond leisure — by supporting research missions, environmental monitoring, and educational initiatives that benefit people and planet alike.

For yachts and crews with a story to tell, and a mission to pursue, the 2026 Explorer Awards represent both recognition and inspiration.
