Turkish shipyard Mengi Yay has launched Serenissima II, the second unit in its bespoke 47-metre sub-500GT Serenissima series, marking another major milestone in the yard’s growing reputation for precision engineering and cross-border collaboration. The sleek motor yacht, known internally as NB 112, touched the water this week at Mengi Yay’s new build facility in Istanbul, Turkey.
Design Meets Global Expertise
Like her predecessor, Serenissima II features interior and exterior styling by Italian design house Nuvolari Lenard, while Dutch firm Van Oossanen Naval Architects has once again delivered high-performance naval architecture. Mengi Yay described the project as a “refined synthesis of artisanal and technical excellence from three nations,” reflecting a growing trend of global partnerships in the yachtbuilding world.
Constructed with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, Serenissima II has been crafted with long-range cruising in mind, offering a blend of Mediterranean sophistication and ocean-going reliability.
Onboard Features & Layout
With a beam of 8.85 metres and a draft of 2.65 metres, the yacht comes in at a comfortable 499GT, allowing for generous interior spaces while remaining under the 500GT threshold. Accommodation is set for 10 guests across five cabins, including a luxurious full-beam owner’s suite, supported by a crew of nine.
Key features include:
- Main saloon with private balcony and wine cellar
- Expansive sundeck with a mini pool, aft sunbathing area, and shaded lounge
- Thoughtfully designed spaces for both relaxation and socialising
The yard describes the sundeck as “one of the largest in its class,” ideal for alfresco living and extended voyages.
Performance & Power

Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, Serenissima II is expected to reach a top speed of 16 knots, with comfortable cruising capabilities designed for exploring the Mediterranean and beyond.
Looking Ahead
The launch of Serenissima II is part of a broader production surge at Mengi Yay, which currently has six superyachts under construction. Among them are two units of the Virtus XP, the shipyard’s flagship model, both scheduled for delivery in 2025.
As the Turkish yacht builder continues to expand its portfolio, the Serenissima line underscores Mengi Yay’s commitment to creating custom-crafted vessels that merge style, space, and seaworthiness.
