The Ibiza JoySail regatta has steadily emerged as one of the standout events on the Mediterranean yachting calendar. Held at the exclusive Marina Ibiza, this invitation-only event has, over the past five years, carved out a unique identity that blends professional racing with an inclusive and distinctly Corinthian spirit.

Offshore Race from Palma to Ibiza
Now recognized as a signature end-of-season gathering, Ibiza JoySail offers a compelling mix of spirited competition, relaxed camaraderie, and sun-soaked celebrations. With its Corinthian-friendly format, the regatta has become a favorite for yacht owners looking for an enjoyable and low-pressure entry point into competitive sailing.
“Come As You Are” Racing
At the heart of Ibiza JoySail is a philosophy of accessibility. As Race Director Nacho Postigo explains, “One of the main attractions is our openness to Corinthian entries. Owners don’t need to heavily optimize their yachts to participate — you can come as you are, and we’ll have a class for you.”

This ethos was evident from the very first edition, when just four yachts competed, including Dark Horse, a debutant to the regatta scene. That same welcoming, low-barrier-to-entry attitude still defines Ibiza JoySail today. While there is no separate Corinthian division, yachts that meet eligibility criteria — including limits on professional crew and sail configurations — compete for the Corinthian Trophy within each class.
Strong Turnout, Friendly Vibes
The 2025 edition of Ibiza JoySail is already fully subscribed, with 22 yachts registered for the event, which takes place from 18–21 September. This is the maximum fleet size allowed — a cap designed to maintain the boutique character and high level of service that has become a hallmark of the regatta.
In 2024, over half the fleet sailed as Corinthian entries, with seven out of fifteen podium finishes going to Corinthian crews. This underscores the competitive potential of non-professional entries and highlights how the event levels the playing field for a broader range of yachts.
Among the returning champions is Daniel van Starrenburg, owner of the 100ft sloop Aurelius, who praised Ibiza JoySail as “one of the best-kept secrets” in the superyacht racing world. He’s back again in 2025 to defend his title.
Big Names, Friendly Faces

While Corinthian spirit is a defining feature, the regatta also attracts some of the most respected names in the sailing world. Moat, the Swan 115, will return aiming to extend her unbeaten streak of four class wins from four appearances. Though not racing in Corinthian mode, her owner Juan Ball perfectly captures the regatta’s essence:
“We are a bunch of friends who respect each other, help each other, and have a good time.”
The 2025 fleet promises another compelling mix — from competitive cruisers like Shambo and Viento, to the majestic 128ft Vitters-built sloop Cervo — ensuring thrilling action on the water and plenty of excitement shoreside.
More Than Just Racing
Beyond the competition, Ibiza JoySail offers a vibrant social program designed for both sailors and their guests. From sunset cocktails to dockside celebrations, the event’s convivial atmosphere has helped foster a strong sense of community — one of the reasons many owners and crews return year after year.

With its perfect blend of Corinthian spirit, professional-grade racing, and Mediterranean charm, Ibiza JoySail has become much more than a regatta — it’s a celebration of sailing, friendship, and the joy of the sea.
