Feadship’s Hybrid-Powered 50m Project 717 Moves into Final Build Phase

Feadship’s elusive 49.5-metre superyacht Project 717, also known as Project Fun, has officially entered the final stages of outfitting at the De Vries shipyard in Aalsmeer, the Netherlands. Central agent Edmiston confirmed that the all-aluminium vessel has completed her metalwork and technical installations, keeping her firmly on schedule for a March 2026 delivery.

Shrouded in secrecy for much of her build, Project 717 was last publicly sighted in July 2024 during transport to Aalsmeer. She is now undergoing extensive outfitting work, including the laying of teak decks across all levels. Her technical launch is slated for November 2025.

Design and Layout

With exterior lines penned by Studio De Voogt, Project 717 showcases a modern, angular aesthetic defined by a vertical bow and a continuous ribbon of glazing across her superstructure. The design speaks to a minimalist, yet sleek approach that emphasizes a low-profile silhouette.

Her interiors have been styled by American designer Marty Lowe, featuring a refined, pale-toned palette with granite-style panelling and ambient lighting. Early renderings suggest a serene and airy atmosphere, curated with a luxurious yet understated hand.

Accommodation and Amenities

The yacht accommodates 10 guests in five spacious staterooms. The full-beam owner’s suite, located on the main deck, offers sweeping floor-to-ceiling views, a private study, walk-in wardrobe, and marble-clad en suite bathroom. Additional guest cabins and crew quarters (for up to eight crew members) are located on the lower deck.

Key social areas include a beach club with a fold-out terrace and a glass-fronted Jacuzzi, a sundeck with al fresco dining for 14, and a large lounge area adjacent to the helm station. A formal dining space is also incorporated into the main deck’s interior layout. Tender storage includes space for a Williams Dieseljet 625 and a Dieseljet 450.

Advanced Propulsion and Efficiency

At 499 GT, Project 717 is equipped with a next-generation diesel-electric propulsion system, coupled with Schottel Azimuthing drives and a battery bank for peak shaving—optimizing fuel efficiency and reducing emissions. She will be fully capable of running on HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) fuel and is expected to reach a top speed of 15 knots with a cruising range of 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.

Project Management and Sale

The yacht is being offered for sale as a “turn-key package” with a dedicated, full-time project manager in place to oversee the build through to final delivery. Edmiston, who is overseeing the sale, has also been involved in recent Feadship successes including the 75.8-metre One and the revolutionary 118.8-metre Breakthrough, the world’s first fuel-cell-powered superyacht.
