TKMS Submits Non-Binding Bid for German Naval Yards Kiel

Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) has submitted a non-binding bid for German Naval Yards Kiel (GNYK), according to media reports. The move is part of TKMS’s plan to expand production capacity amid growing demand for defence equipment. A company spokesperson told Reuters, “Discussions between our two companies will continue with an open outcome.”

GNYK, currently owned by CMN Naval Group, a French shipbuilder active in both naval and yacht construction, recently signed a contract to build the 114.1-metre Project ELF. It is not yet clear whether a potential takeover would affect this project. The yard also unveiled a 93-metre superyacht concept, Koa, in collaboration with Swisship Yacht Projects and Pascoli International.

Reuters reports that the British defence and marine firm Inocea Group is also in talks to acquire GNYK, highlighting growing interest in the yard as European defence companies seek expansion opportunities.
