Construction Begins on 41m Project Obsidian Blade, Sold via Cryptocurrency

-

Aegean Yacht has officially laid the keel of Project Obsidian Blade, a 41-metre custom superyacht now under construction at its Bodrum facilities in Turkey. The project has already captured attention in the industry after being sold in February 2025 through a cryptocurrency transaction, highlighting the growing role of digital assets in high-value yacht sales.

Project Obsidian Blade is scheduled for delivery in time for the 2027 Mediterranean season. According to Pierre Badin of Denison, who introduced the buyer:
“The client fell in love with the design of Project Tempest, and together with Aegean Yacht we have tailored the platform to match their vision. It has been a pleasure securing this remarkable project for our client.”

The yacht’s profile, marked by a high bow and minimal glazing, takes inspiration from modern naval vessels while her interiors are described as “beach-house-style”, ensuring a relaxed yet refined onboard lifestyle.

With accommodation for 12 guests and six crew, the layout includes a full-beam master suite on the main deck complete with an en suite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe.

Key specifications include a 7.4-metre beam and a volume of 299GT. Exterior spaces will feature an expansive aft deck with capacity for two large tenders, a sundeck with a central bar and al fresco dining, as well as versatile lounging areas designed for both privacy and social gatherings.

As construction advances, further details on Obsidian Blade’s interiors and onboard features are expected to be revealed.
