Damen Yachting has officially announced that Project Tanzanite — its 120-metre flagship and the largest Amels ever built — has begun sea trials in Vlissingen, the Netherlands.
Launched in September 2025, Project Tanzanite began construction in 2020 and represents a milestone for the Dutch shipbuilder. First glimpsed in 2023 during her transport from Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania to the Vlissingen facility, the yacht now dominates the Amels fleet both in size and engineering ambition.
Designed across five decks by Espen Øino International, with naval architecture by Damen Yachting, Project Tanzanite features a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Her sleek white exterior, accentuated by continuous bands of tinted glass, conveys both power and refined simplicity — hallmarks of Øino’s design language.
Over 1,000 craftsmen and specialists from Damen Yachting and its global network are contributing to the project’s completion. With an impressive internal volume of 6,083 GT, Project Tanzanite accommodates up to 22 guests and 44 crew.
Inside, the design reveals grand proportions and understated elegance. A spiral marble staircase winds around a central elevator, connecting light-filled saloons, lounges, and guest suites. The main saloon features soaring ceilings, neutral tones, and high-gloss finishes for a sense of space and serenity.
Outdoor living is equally well-considered, with multiple alfresco dining areas, expansive sun terraces, and plush lounging zones in cream tones.
Powered by four variable-speed generators feeding twin diesel-electric azipods, Project Tanzanite is expected to reach a top speed of 18 knots. Her construction was overseen by Deeside Maritime, ensuring precision across every phase of development.
Project Tanzanite is scheduled for delivery in 2026 — a defining launch for Damen Yachting and a new benchmark in the 120-metre superyacht class.
