The Superyacht Eco Association (SEA Index®), under the patronage of the Yacht Club de Monaco, continues to grow its international network by officially welcoming Marina Genova as its newest Institutional Member. Located in the heart of Italy’s Ligurian coast, Marina Genova is one of the Mediterranean’s premier superyacht marinas, now reinforcing its commitment to a more sustainable yachting future.
The partnership signifies a decisive move by both entities to promote eco-responsibility and carbon awareness in the luxury maritime sector.
A Shared Commitment to Sustainability
By joining the SEA Index® program, Marina Genova becomes an active player in promoting environmental best practices, specifically focused on CO₂ emission benchmarking and transparency. The SEA Index® is currently one of the first carbon rating systems dedicated to superyachts, developed in collaboration with the Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco.
This new institutional alliance underlines Marina Genova’s willingness to align with international environmental standards and play a proactive role in reshaping the industry toward lower-impact operations.
“We are proud to welcome Marina Genova into the SEA Index® family,” said Bernard d’Alessandri, General Secretary of the Yacht Club de Monaco. “Their involvement signals a growing recognition among marinas that sustainability must become a shared responsibility throughout the yachting ecosystem.”
Why It Matters
As marinas increasingly serve not just as ports but as eco-partners, the inclusion of sites like Marina Genova bolsters the SEA Index’s mission to support owners, shipyards, and yacht managers in measuring and mitigating their carbon footprint.
In turn, superyacht owners now have more access to certified eco-forward marinas, enhancing their ability to make climate-conscious navigation choices across the Mediterranean.
Looking Ahead
The announcement follows SEA Index’s rapid expansion throughout Europe and the Med, including partnerships with the Ports of Monaco, Marina di Loano, and other eco-conscious institutions.
Together with Marina Genova, SEA Index® continues to steer the superyacht community toward greater transparency, accountability, and a shared vision of responsible luxury at sea.
