Damen Yachting’s third unit in the YS53 series has entered sea trials, marking a significant milestone ahead of her anticipated delivery this summer. The 55.3-metre support yacht, launched in March 2025, is currently undergoing performance testing after hitting the water at the builder’s Antalya facility in Turkey.

Engineered for durability, reliability, and exceptional seakeeping, the YS53 design is instantly recognizable by its wave-piercing axe bow, forward-raked wheelhouse windows for improved visibility, and spray rails to shield sensitive deck equipment. With an internal volume just under 500GT, this rugged support vessel is built to serve the world’s most demanding private fleets.

Capable of reaching 19 knots, the YS53 accommodates up to eight guests and ten crew, offering a versatile, mission-ready platform for expedition-style cruising, logistical support, or leisure enhancement. The expansive aft deck is a standout feature—adaptable for events, scientific missions, or carrying a full arsenal of toys, tenders, and even submarines. A 15-tonne crane enables heavy-duty operations, while a reinforced deck allows for touch-and-go helicopter use.

“We are delighted that this YS53 has started the sea trial phase of her build,” said project manager Pim Oostra. “She is the third from this all-new YS53 design and is a great example of our Yacht Supports which are built for purpose and non-stop reliability.”
The first two vessels in the YS53 series include Bad Company Support, commissioned by renowned sportfisherman Anthony Hsieh, and Five Oceans, which recently sold for €29,950,000.

Damen Yachting currently has five superyacht projects under construction, with the largest measuring 75.2 metres, reinforcing the Dutch shipbuilder’s leading position in both expedition and support yacht segments.
