Royal Huisman Signs Contract for 80m+ “Super-Sized” Sailing Yacht Project 412

-

Royal Huisman has confirmed the sale of a new 80-metre-plus sailing yacht under the working title Project 412, marking the latest milestone in the yard’s growing portfolio of ultra-large, next-generation sailing vessels.

The yard’s facilities are based in Vollenhove, the Netherlands

The yacht will be constructed at the yard’s state-of-the-art facilities in Vollenhove, the Netherlands, and is being commissioned by a returning owner, reflecting the strong client loyalty and trust Royal Huisman has cultivated through its 140-year heritage.

While specific technical and design details remain under wraps — including the yacht’s final LOA — Royal Huisman has described Project 412 as a “super-sized” aluminium sailing yacht engineered for global circumnavigation. A key feature of the yacht will be its advanced carbon rig supplied by Royal Huisman’s sister company Rondal, known for its pioneering rigging solutions and integrated sailing systems.

“We are honoured to embark on this new super-sized sailing yacht project for a returning owner,” said Jan Timmerman, CEO of Royal Huisman. “Every yacht we create reflects the depth of experience and dedication we have cultivated over the past 140 years. Project 412 is no exception. With her impressive scale and advanced design, it promises a true sailing experience while offering a distinctive and sustainable alternative to large powerboats.”

Project 412 will join an increasingly ambitious fleet under construction at Royal Huisman, which includes:

  • Project 410 – an 85-metre vessel that will become the largest single-masted sailing yacht in the world, and
  • Project 411, an 81-metre sailing yacht already in advanced stages of build.

The yard has positioned itself as a global leader in building highly customised, performance-oriented sailing superyachts, with a renewed focus on sustainability and innovation in large-scale sailing projects. The confirmation of Project 412 reinforces Royal Huisman’s dominance in the 80-metre-plus segment — a category traditionally reserved for motor yachts.

As demand grows for eco-conscious alternatives to large motor yachts, the announcement of Project 412 is likely to send ripples across the superyacht industry, signalling that “green” can also mean “grand.”
