The first unit of the long-awaited Amels 80 series, named Pangea, has officially been delivered from Damen Yachting’s facilities in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, marking a major milestone for the Dutch shipbuilder. The 80-metre, 2,175GT superyacht is now en route to Gibraltar, where she will begin her inaugural season.

A Vision Realised
Construction of Pangea began on speculation and she was swiftly sold just six months into the build, with the deal formally announced at the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show. The yacht underwent successful sea trials in June, during which project manager Romke van der Linde described the experience as “a unique opportunity to feel firsthand the innovation, design, and power that this yacht delivers.”
“It’s rewarding to see the first Amels 80 delivered,” said Jan van Hogerwou, Damen Yachting’s Commercial Executive for North America. “This project has been a true partnership from the very beginning, built on trust, shared vision, and a commitment to excellence.”
Burgess introduced the owner and remained involved throughout as the owner’s representative.
“With so much of the design development overseen personally by the owners, Pangea will undoubtedly stand out among the new yachts entering service in 2025,” added Sean Bianchi, Head of New Construction at Burgess.
Modern Lines, Natural Inspiration

The Amels 80 is the largest yacht in Damen Yachting’s acclaimed Limited Editions range, and her unveiling in 2023 marked the debut of a new design era for the brand. The yacht’s exterior lines are by Espen Øino, while Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design crafted the interiors — the first collaboration between the two studios.
“Her modern, strong lines will look as good in 10 years as the day she is delivered,” said Øino, describing Pangea’s timeless silhouette.
Design Highlights
Among her many standout features is a 6.5-metre swimming pool with a transparent floor that filters light into the beach club below. The expansive stern platform and three folding sea terraces form a semi-enclosed waterfront lounge, seamlessly connected to a spa, sauna, gym, and Hammam.

Inside, accommodation is arranged for 14 guests in seven cabins, including a full owner’s deck designed as a private apartment with its own lounge, office, and library. Finishes include precious inlays, marble, and woven metal, all illuminated by full-height glass windows.

Lead designer Paul Costerus of Sinot explained, “We treated materials so that their natural characteristics remain pure and tactile. The result is a style that feels both distinctive and personal.”
Built for the Future

Equipped with a hybrid propulsion system, Pangea combines efficiency, comfort, and sustainability, achieving a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. The design also allows for custom configurations, including options for an electric tender with a dedicated fast-charging station.

The 200-square-metre sundeck offers multiple social zones, from a forward Jacuzzi and sunpads to a shaded bar and circular dining table — a true outdoor retreat.
“When we started this project, we wanted to create a yacht for families to enjoy and to feel truly connected to the sea,” said Rose Damen, Managing Director of Damen Yachting. “Pangea embodies that vision — timeless, elegant, and built to explore.”
