Oceanco Launches Leviathan – A 111m Yacht Built with Intent, Not Convention

67

Oceanco has unveiled Leviathan (formerly known as Project Y722), a groundbreaking 111m / 364ft diesel-electric superyacht that challenges traditional yachting norms. More than a statement of luxury, Leviathan is a purpose-built vessel where every design choice puts people – both guests and crew – at the center.

From the outset, the experienced owner, deeply committed to crew wellbeing and operational efficiency, integrated crew input into the design process. Far from being passive operators, crew members provided valuable insights that shaped the yacht’s systems, layouts, and material selections.

Designing for Purpose, Not Tradition

Instead of high-maintenance finishes that consume time and resources, Leviathan incorporates smart, durable materials such as honed stone, natural wool carpets, composite capping rails, and full-height glass superstructure bulkheads. These choices reduce repetitive upkeep, allowing crew to focus on enhancing guest experiences, managing advanced operations, or supporting onboard scientific missions.

The yacht’s human-centric philosophy extends to every detail. Naval architecture by Lateral Naval Architects and Oceanco, exterior styling by Oceanco, and interiors by Mark Berryman Design reflect a seamless blend of form and function. Owner’s representatives Y.CO and YTMC ensured that the vessel stayed aligned with its guiding principles throughout the build.

A Tribute to Collaboration

As a symbol of the teamwork behind her creation, Leviathan features a glass panel engraved with the names of over 2,000 contributors – a permanent reminder that this yacht is the product of collective skill and vision.

Leviathan represents a new philosophy of yachting, one that places greater purpose at the heart of design, ownership, and operations,” said Deniz de Koningh, Project Director at Oceanco.

“She is not just a high-performance vessel,” added Charlie Birkett, CEO and Co-Founder of Y.CO. “She is a working ecosystem, designed to support everything from world-class hospitality to scientific research.”
