Lazzara Yachts has announced the sale of its largest project to date, the 49.5-metre explorer yacht EX 165, marking a major milestone for the US-based shipyard as it continues its expansion into the upper echelon of the superyacht market. Construction on the vessel is set to begin in early 2026.
Positioned just under 500GT, the EX 165 is engineered for serious long-range exploration and will be built to Lloyd’s commercial classification for unrestricted navigation. The yacht will be constructed with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, delivering both resilience and refined performance across the globe’s most demanding cruising grounds.
Leading brokerage house Mortlock Yachts represented the buyer in the sale and will also oversee the yacht’s charter operations following delivery — a sign that the EX 165 is set to become a prominent figure in the global luxury charter market.
“The EX 165 represents a new benchmark in expedition yacht engineering, expanding our range with enhanced capabilities for extended offshore cruising,” said George Chirakadze, CEO of Lazzara Yachts. He added that the yacht would feature “custom options” tailored to her owner’s vision.
While detailed interior renderings and specifications remain under wraps, the yard confirmed that the layout will accommodate up to 12 guests and 11 crew, in line with the sub-500GT tonnage class. This focus on high-volume comfort within regulatory limits reflects current market demand for long-range luxury without compromising on space or style.
The announcement comes on the heels of the sale of the UHV 150, Lazzara’s previous flagship model measuring 45.7 metres. That build is currently slated for delivery in the first half of 2027.

The EX 165 positions Lazzara firmly among a new generation of American yacht builders redefining luxury exploration with globally capable, commercially compliant vessels—blending robust design with refined living.
Stay tuned for updates as the project moves into the construction phase.
