Ibiza’s yachting scene just got a serious upgrade. IGY Ibiza Marina, a flagship Mediterranean destination operated by Ocean Capital Partners, Grupo Empresas Matutes, and Island Global Yachting (IGY), has officially completed a €5 million redevelopment—redefining the island’s appeal for visiting superyachts year-round.
A Marina Reimagined
The redevelopment features a reconfigured layout capable of hosting yachts from 20 to 150 metres LOA, affirming IGY Ibiza Marina’s place among Europe’s premier large-yacht marinas. The project not only enhances vessel capacity but also delivers meaningful improvements to both land and sea-based infrastructure.
A brand-new customer service office now offers full support for captains, owners, and crew—streamlining arrival protocols and concierge services, while setting a new hospitality standard in the Balearics.
Shore Power for a Greener Port
One of the most impactful upgrades is the integration of shore power for all berths, enabling large vessels to plug into the grid and turn off their generators while docked. This major move:
- Reduces noise and air pollution
- Lowers fuel consumption and environmental footprint
- Aligns Ibiza with top-tier sustainable yachting destinations
This green initiative mirrors the global push for eco-conscious cruising and allows owners to enjoy luxury with a cleaner conscience.
Extending the Season – and the Island’s Future
IGY Ibiza Marina’s upgrade is part of a larger plan to extend Ibiza’s tourism season beyond the traditional summer high. By improving services for superyachts year-round, the marina positions itself as a magnet for autumn and spring cruising itineraries.
The project’s impact will go far beyond the waterfront. Between 2025 and 2033, the marina is expected to deliver an estimated €30.4 million in economic value, supporting:
- 15 direct jobs at the marina
- Over 300 indirect roles across hospitality, marine services, and transport
An official inauguration event welcomed local officials, residents, and industry partners—celebrating not just a facility, but a shared vision for the island’s future.
“We extend our sincere thanks to local residents and businesses for their cooperation and understanding throughout the process,” IGY said in a statement. “Their support was essential in delivering a project that advances both sustainability and Ibiza’s global competitiveness.”
As the superyacht industry moves toward cleaner, smarter marinas, IGY Ibiza Marina is charting a bold course—right in the heart of the Balearics.
