IGY Ibiza Marina, one of the Mediterranean’s key yachting hubs, has officially completed a major redevelopment initiative, signaling a new era of superyacht infrastructure and client services. Spearheaded by Island Global Yachting (IGY), Ocean Capital Partners (OCP), and Grupo Empresas Matutes, the ambitious project represents a nearly €5 million investment, designed to integrate the marina more closely with the city of Ibiza and elevate the standard of services provided to visiting superyachts.
The transformation began in November 2023, with a comprehensive overhaul of both land-based and marine infrastructure. According to IGY Marinas, the works were aimed at “enhancing convenience, accessibility, and quality” for vessels up to 150 metres in length — making it a premier destination not just for summer, but for year-round superyacht tourism.
Upgraded Infrastructure & Enhanced Capacity
Among the most impactful changes is the new dock facility capable of hosting superyachts and small cruise ships, alongside a modernized customer service office to streamline support for captains and crews.
A key engineering feature of the project is the refurbishment of the breakwater footbridge, a vital structure enabling the recovery of 200 metres of previously unusable berthing line. This strategic improvement significantly increases docking space — a move expected to enhance the port’s ability to receive smaller cruise liners in the heart of Ibiza’s historic La Marina district.
Electrification & Environmental Integration
In a sustainability-focused upgrade, the marina now offers shore power connectivity, thanks to a newly launched electrical interconnection system. This allows docked vessels to access reliable electrical supply without running generators — reducing emissions and improving energy efficiency.
The improvements also extend to the local Sa Marina neighborhood, where increased electrical capacity now supports better emergency response communication and data transfer.
Local Impact & Economic Growth
In addition to boosting tourism, the redevelopment project has already created 55 direct jobs and is projected to generate a €30.4 million socioeconomic impact from 2025 to 2033, with annual returns of around €3.3 million.
A formal inauguration ceremony was held to commemorate the completion, attended by local officials, clients, and residents — reinforcing the marina’s position as both a luxury destination and a vital economic engine for the Balearic Islands.
IGY Ibiza Marina’s transformation underscores Ibiza’s evolving role in global superyachting — offering not just seasonal allure but infrastructure built for longevity, luxury, and sustainability.
