Ibiza JoySail Superyacht Regatta Sets Dates for 2026 Edition

-

The Ibiza JoySail Superyacht Regatta will return for its sixth edition from 17 to 20 September 2026, taking place across Ibiza and Formentera. The opening of the invitation process marks the start of preparations for the next edition of this established event on the international superyacht racing calendar.

Ibiza JoySail remains an invitation-only regatta, welcoming a carefully selected international fleet each year. The invitation process begins with yachts that have already taken part in previous editions. It then expands to new sailing yachts that have expressed interest, while staying true to the event’s spirit and format.

New yacht eligibility for 2026

A key update for 2026 is the inclusion of sailing yachts from 80 feet in length. Yachts will compete in several categories based on design, technical specifications and sporting expectations.

One of these is the Corinthian category, created for non-professional crews and owner-led teams. This category allows yachts to compete without changing their cruising setup or meeting complex optimisation requirements. The goal is to encourage participation while preserving the inclusive and accessible nature of the regatta.

The category structure ensures fair and balanced racing across the fleet. It caters to both cruising-oriented yachts and higher-performance designs, while maintaining clear rules and enjoyable competition on the water.

Racing and onshore experience

STP Shipyard Palma and Marina Ibiza organise the event, which blends competitive racing with a strong social programme ashore. Over four days, the regatta offers a full schedule of onshore activities for owners, crews, families and guests.

The concept of “racing with family and friends” remains central to Ibiza JoySail. The event aims to create a relaxed yet professional environment, both at sea and on land.

“Ibiza JoySail has grown while always staying true to its essence,” said Nacho Postigo, Director of Ibiza JoySail. “We have refined the format edition after edition to offer clear categories and an atmosphere where owners, crews and friends can enjoy sailing and time together ashore in a safe and welcoming setting.”

Perpetual Trophy and partners

One of the regatta’s highlights is the Perpetual Trophy, awarded to the yacht that completes the Mallorca–Ibiza crossing in the shortest time. The challenge has become a defining feature of the event and adds a strategic and competitive element to the programme.

The regatta receives support from a wide range of sponsors and partners, including North Sails, Southern Wind, Mangusta, Super Oh!, Monzó Yacht Painting, Varadero Ibiza, Consell de Ibiza, Repsol and Yacht Moving. The event also collaborates with Yacht Club Ibiza and Real Club Náutico de Palma.

Held under the SYRA framework and supported technically by ORC, Ibiza JoySail continues to strengthen its position within the international superyacht racing circuit.

With limited entries and a proven format, Ibiza JoySail is now firmly on course for its 2026 edition, offering a blend of quality racing, shared experiences and Mediterranean sailing at its best.
