First Look Inside CDM’s One-Off 43m Explorer Yacht Babbo

-

Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche (CDM) has unveiled the interiors of Babbo, its 42.6-metre, fully custom explorer yacht. Delivered in September 2024, the yacht has already covered “thousands of miles” with her owners, who describe themselves as “profoundly satisfied” with the project.

The family behind Babbo had previously enjoyed life on board the smaller namesake yacht, now My True Blue. “Over time, as our family expanded and our needs evolved, we realised we required a larger yacht to offer everyone greater comfort and space,” they explained.

Design & Architecture

The yacht’s exterior styling was developed in collaboration with Francesco Paszkowski Design, while naval architecture is by Hydro Tec. Built with a steel hull, Babbo carries a volume of 499GT, an 8.7-metre beam and boasts a 5,000-nautical-mile range. Her twin Caterpillar C32 Acert engines are IMO Tier III-compliant, delivering a top speed of 14 knots and long-range performance suited for remote expeditions.

Interiors & Layout

Interiors are defined by an “indoor/outdoor ethos” that relies on generous glazing, creating bright, sea-facing living spaces. The upper deck saloon is wrapped in glass, offering a veranda-like atmosphere, while the main saloon maintains a warm, cosy ambience thanks to the yacht’s compact superstructure.

Accommodation includes:

  • Four double guest suites on the main deck forward
  • Two twin cabins on the lower deck
  • Crew quarters, galley, crew mess and laundry also located on the lower deck

Lifestyle & Leisure

Outdoor living is a strong focus:

  • A sundeck with a bar, dining area, sunbeds and panoramic pool
  • Upper deck options for both indoor and al fresco dining
  • A tender bay forward on the upper deck
  • A versatile lazarette on the lower deck storing toys, bicycles, and diving gear

Adding to the wellness appeal, the lazarette is connected to a spa area with a sauna and Hammam, accessible directly from the swim platform or via the main deck.

Looking Ahead

Babbo is part of CDM’s growing fleet of rugged explorer yachts. According to BOATPro, the yard currently has 14 yachts under construction or on order, following recent deliveries including the flagship RJ and Project T, which will debut at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival.

With her robust build, high autonomy and refined Italian design, Babbo is a “one-off” creation that embodies CDM’s philosophy: yachts designed for serious exploration without compromising luxury.
