Dutch shipyard Feadship has launched its latest groundbreaking build, the 79.5-metre explorer yacht Valor, formerly known as Project 715. Designed for ambitious Arctic exploration and ultimate sustainability, Valor stands as one of the most technically advanced and visually distinctive yachts to emerge from Feadship’s Aalsmeer facility.
Built for the Ice — and the Future
Commissioned by a repeat Feadship client, Valor is built with adventure and environmental responsibility in mind. With a steel hull, high-volume interior, and an ice-classed structure (BV Young Ice 2), the yacht is fully equipped to tackle challenging environments such as the Northwest Passage. Her robust design includes a 2-metre ice belt above and below the waterline and heat exchangers that recycle energy to withstand Arctic temperatures.
Construction began in 2022, culminating in a vessel that balances exploration with elegance.
True Zero-Emission Capability
Valor features one of the most advanced propulsion systems ever built by Feadship: a diesel-electric hybrid system combined with solar energy and a water-cooled lithium-ion battery bank. The yacht runs entirely zero-emission for up to two days, outperforming even Feadship’s iconic Savannah. She also boasts the potential to run on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) BioFuel, which can cut carbon emissions by up to 90%.
Bold Aesthetics for a Brave Purpose
Exterior design is the work of Studio De Voogt, taking cues from military vessels with a mix of “battleship dreadnought” and “missile frigate” elements. According to designer Chris Bottoms, the American owner sought a yacht that would be “recognisable from outer space” — resulting in sharp chamfers, generous walk-around decks, and a towering bowline.
Among the owner’s unique requests: a grass-patch “relief station” and shower for three Golden Retrievers, built into the expanded owner’s deck.
Interiors by Bannenberg & Rowell
While the full interior remains undisclosed, British design house Bannenberg & Rowell has delivered a “clean, mid-century modern” interior, blending custom stonework with hand-crafted furniture by George Nakashima, Linley, Pollaro, and Silver Lining. The central showpiece is a 48,001-part bronze and stone staircase that spirals between the decks.
Accommodations include:
- 14 guests across six main deck cabins
- A private owner’s deck with a forward master suite, Jacuzzi, office, and formal dining space
Wellness, Entertainment & Tenders
The yacht features:
- Bridge deck gym
- Beauty/massage room
- Elevator access across all six decks
- 8.4m contra-flow infinity pool
- Oversized beach club with folding doors
- Massive tender and toy storage on the port side
Two Jacuzzis, expansive outdoor lounging areas, and informal dining complete the leisure setup.
🔧 Power & Performance
Propelled by twin Schottel EcoPeller azimuthing thrusters, Valor reaches:
- 15+ knots top speed
- 11 knots cruising speed
Set to Debut at Monaco Yacht Show
Valor will be officially delivered in late summer 2025 and is slated to premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show, joining a new fleet of stealthy Feadship projects including Project 716, Project 828, and the 100-metre Project 824.
This also marks a transitional period at Feadship as longtime director Henk de Vries III steps down, signaling a new era for the storied Dutch builder.
