Southern Spars has begun production of the twin-masted DynaRig system for Echo Yachts’ Project ASC58, a 57-metre custom catamaran set to become the largest sail-powered catamaran in the world.

The yacht will feature two free-standing, rotating masts and a fully automated sail-handling system, enabling the entire 1,660m² sailplan to be managed by a single operator — echoing the innovation seen on the iconic Black Pearl.
Designed by Dykstra Naval Architects with support from One2Three Naval Architects, Project ASC58 combines cutting-edge styling with an efficient aluminium hull, engineered for eco-friendly long-range cruising. Features will include a vast toy garage, helicopter capabilities, and a regenerative power system with battery storage for “silent running under sail.”

“This new superyacht will truly elevate the term green superyacht design,” said Echo Yachts director Mark Stothard. “With its low-resistance catamaran hull form and sail-powered capability, it represents a new era in sustainable yachting.”
When complete, Project ASC58 will set a new benchmark in large-scale, sustainable sailing yachts, further cementing Echo Yachts’ reputation for world-class custom builds.
