Italian designer Mauro Giamboi and renowned Dutch naval architects Van Oossanen have revealed the Azzurra 48, the flagship model in their newly launched semi-custom superyacht range. Standing at 48 metres and under 500GT, the Azzurra 48 blends aesthetic ambition with serious performance and adaptability.

Following the April unveiling of the Azzurra 36 and Azzurra 40, this latest addition crowns the series and represents the pinnacle of the collaboration. All three models feature a unified design language – sculpted Italian exterior lines, high-efficiency naval platforms, and flexible, forward-looking layouts built around owner and charter market demands.
Distinctive Design & Seamless Living
The Azzurra 48’s silhouette is defined by fluid grey lines, an asymmetric hull and deck, and extensive fold-out platforms that dissolve the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living. The main deck flows into a spacious aft area with a glass-backed infinity pool, casual lounging areas, and sunbathing space.

Inside, the main saloon features curved sofas, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a formal dining area that maintains uninterrupted sightlines throughout the yacht. Customisation options abound, catering to both private owners and commercial charter operators.

Transformative Guest Cabins & Private Owner’s Oasis
Guest accommodation is both generous and highly innovative, offering eight convertible cabins that can switch from twin to double layouts in minutes. The upper deck owner’s suite includes a private studio and a forward-facing balcony with plunge pool, offering seclusion and ocean vistas in equal measure.

For wellbeing and relaxation, the lower deck houses a full spa suite featuring a steam room and massage area, enhancing the yacht’s credentials for luxury and comfort.
Engineering for Exploration
Despite its elegant styling, the Azzurra 48 is also engineered for performance and endurance. Equipped with Van Oossanen’s Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF), the yacht delivers 20–30% fuel savings at cruising speeds. The hull is reinforced for icy waters, and the raised pilothouse provides optimal visibility for exploration routes.

Propulsion is provided by either twin Caterpillar C32 ACERT (IMO Tier III) or MTU 12V 2000 M96L engines, with optional diesel-electric propulsion for quieter, cleaner cruising. The yacht is expected to achieve a top speed of 16 knots and cruise at 11 knots, with a range of 4,250 nautical miles.
“Redefining the Mid-Size Superyacht”
“Our collaboration on the Azzurra 48 showcases how thoughtful naval architecture and hydrodynamic innovation can redefine comfort and efficiency in a yacht of this size and class,” said Perry van Oossanen.

With a beam of 9 metres, a volume of 499GT, and a design built for flexibility, the Azzurra 48 positions itself as a compelling contender in the mid-size yacht segment — offering modern luxury, sustainability, and exploration-readiness without compromise.
