40 Knots on Foils: Sunreef and BRABUS Create One of the Most Radical Luxury Catamarans Ever Built

-

Sunreef Yachts and BRABUS have officially revealed the BRABUS ULTIMA 55, an all-new 17-metre luxury power catamaran that combines the engineering expertise of one of the world’s leading multihull builders with the unmistakable performance DNA of the German luxury mobility brand.

Designed to redefine the high-performance catamaran segment, the BRABUS ULTIMA 55 blends speed, innovation, luxury and advanced marine technology into a striking new platform capable of exceeding 40 knots.

Performance Meets Innovation

At the heart of the BRABUS ULTIMA 55 are twin six-cylinder engines producing 725 hp each (533 kW), delivering a combined output of 1,450 horsepower.

One of the yacht’s most innovative features is its advanced hydrofoil system, designed to lift the hulls partially above the water while underway. By significantly reducing hydrodynamic drag, the foils improve fuel efficiency, enhance stability and create an exceptionally smooth ride, giving owners the sensation of “flying” across the water.

According to Francis Lapp, Founder and CEO of Sunreef Yachts:

“The BRABUS ULTIMA 55 is fast, bold and truly unique. The moment she lifts above the water, you feel the difference. The ride becomes smoother, quieter and incredibly enjoyable.”

Unmistakable BRABUS Styling

The yacht immediately stands out thanks to its aggressive automotive-inspired design language.

Finished in Graphite Black or the optional Phantom Grey, the exterior incorporates extensive exposed carbon-fibre detailing, including aerodynamic wings, illuminated BRABUS logos, ventilation trims, custom roof lighting and signature deck furniture.

Large fold-down side platforms expand the yacht’s beam from 5.6 metres to 7.6 metres, transforming the aft cockpit into an expansive waterfront lounge complete with transformer sunbeds, an extendable carbon-fibre dining table, barbecue station, wet bar and generous entertaining areas.

A separate foredeck sun lounge provides an additional private relaxation space.

Supercar Luxury on the Water

Inside, the BRABUS influence continues throughout the interior.

The saloon features bespoke Moonstone Masterpiece leather, the brand’s signature Triangle stitching, Alcantara headlining, exposed carbon-fibre trim and ambient lighting integrated throughout the living spaces.

The helm station is centred around a widescreen digital control interface featuring a dedicated BRABUS user experience, while a premium Bowers & Wilkins Marine Series sound system delivers high-end onboard entertainment.

A fully equipped galley includes induction cooking, electric oven, refrigerators, ice makers and a concealed 43-inch television that rises electronically from the cabinetry when required.

Flexible Accommodation

Owners can choose between two interior layouts.

The standard configuration offers:

  • One full-beam owner’s suite
  • One VIP cabin
  • One crew cabin

An alternative arrangement increases guest capacity to six guests across three cabins, while maintaining separate accommodation for one crew member.

Natural wood veneers, premium finishes and carbon-fibre accents create an atmosphere that combines contemporary elegance with BRABUS performance styling.

A New Collaboration Begins

The BRABUS ULTIMA 55 represents the first production model born from the strategic partnership between Sunreef Yachts and BRABUS, opening an entirely new chapter in the luxury catamaran market.

“We asked ourselves what a modern high-performance luxury catamaran should look and feel like,” said Constantin Buschmann, CEO and owner of BRABUS.

“The BRABUS ULTIMA 55 is our answer: real performance, uncompromising quality and what we call the ‘One Second Wow.'”

With its foiling technology, automotive-inspired styling, luxurious interiors and impressive performance, the BRABUS ULTIMA 55 introduces an exciting new category of performance multihulls, combining the space and comfort of a catamaran with the agility and excitement traditionally associated with high-performance monohull yachts.

As both brands continue their collaboration, the BRABUS ULTIMA 55 sets a bold new benchmark for owners seeking speed, innovation and unmistakable design on the water.
