Revolut Founder Nik Storonsky Faces €17.5 Million Legal Claim Over €350 Million Superyacht Deal

-

Revolut founder and CEO Nik Storonsky is at the center of a high-profile legal dispute after luxury yacht brokerage Cecil Wright & Partners filed a claim in London’s High Court seeking €17.5 million in commission related to the purchase of a €350 million superyacht.

According to court filings, the brokerage alleges that it introduced Storonsky to the opportunity to acquire the yacht before being excluded from the transaction, claiming the purchase was ultimately completed without its involvement.

The dispute reportedly stems from discussions that began in October 2024, when an adviser to Storonsky’s family office approached Cecil Wright to explore the possibility of commissioning a new superyacht. During subsequent conversations in 2025, the adviser is said to have asked whether there was an existing yacht available for purchase while a new build could be developed.

The brokerage claims it identified a 102-metre superyacht under construction at German shipbuilder Lürssen as a suitable opportunity. According to the legal filing, the vessel features a glass-bottom infinity pool, expansive beach club, wellness facilities including a cryotherapy-equipped gym, and other amenities expected aboard one of the world’s largest private yachts.

Cecil Wright alleges that it was instrumental in bringing the opportunity to the buyer but was later bypassed, resulting in the loss of what it argues is a contractually due commission of €17.5 million.

At the time of publication, the allegations remain before the court and have not been determined. The legal proceedings are expected to examine the role of yacht brokers in high-value transactions and whether commission agreements remained enforceable throughout the purchase process.

The case has attracted significant attention across both the superyacht and financial sectors, given Storonsky’s status as one of Europe’s most prominent technology entrepreneurs and the scale of the transaction involved.

As the proceedings continue, the dispute highlights the importance of brokerage agreements and professional representation in the acquisition of ultra-high-value custom superyachts, where commissions can reach tens of millions of euros.
