Netto II Hits the Water: Second Amels 80 Launched in the Netherlands

-

Dutch builder Damen Yachting has launched the second hull in its flagship Amels 80 series, the 80-metre superyacht Netto II, from its facilities in Vlissingen.

Construction of the yacht began on speculation before she was sold in December 2022, only months after the Amels 80 model was unveiled. Initial hull construction took place at the yard’s facility in Galați, Romania, before she was transported to the Netherlands for outfitting. She was last seen en route to Vlissingen in August 2024.

A Distinct Identity

Netto II follows the delivery of the first Amels 80, Pangea, which was handed over in October 2024. While sharing the same platform, hull two stands out with a striking metallic “dolphin blue” hull, platinum bootstripe and crisp white superstructure — a bold evolution of the Amels aesthetic.

Exterior design across the Amels 80 range is by Espen Øino, while the interiors of Netto II have been created by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. Although full interior details remain private, the yacht is reported to feature several custom elements, including a speakeasy-style bar inspired by a 1960s casino atmosphere.

American studio JQB Design — known for its work on the iconic 126-metre Octopus — also contributed to selected interior and exterior areas. The yacht is believed to succeed the 34.9-metre Nordlund yacht Netto, delivered in 2014, which also featured a distinctive blue hull.

Signature Amels 80 Features

With a volume of 2,175GT, the Amels 80 platform offers accommodation for up to 14 guests in seven cabins, supported by a crew of 21.

Key highlights include:

  • A 200-square-metre sundeck with an oversized jacuzzi
  • A foredeck helicopter landing area
  • A private owner’s deck
  • A beach club with unfolding sea terraces on three sides
  • A wellness area with gym, hammam and sauna
  • A 6.5-metre glass-bottomed swimming pool that illuminates the beach club below

Naval architecture is handled in-house by Damen Yachting, ensuring continuity between engineering, design and construction.

Moving Toward Delivery

“Seeing this impressive Amels 80 now afloat and back outside is a proud moment for everyone involved,” said Stefan Regtvoort, Project Manager at Damen Yachting. He credited the smooth launch to close collaboration between the shipyard, partners and the owner’s team, represented by Kees de Keizer.

Following her launch, Netto II will complete final outfitting and sea trials ahead of delivery to her experienced owner in time for the Mediterranean summer season.

Damen Yachting currently has nine superyachts in build or on order, including five Amels 80 units and three Amels 60 models, underscoring continued demand for the Limited Editions series.
