MB92 Barcelona Announces €40 Million Expansion to Boost Superyacht Refit Capacity

-

MB92 Barcelona has unveiled an ambitious €40 million investment programme that will significantly expand and modernise its world-renowned superyacht refit facilities between 2026 and 2028.

The expansion follows approval from the Port of Barcelona, which has granted the company additional operational space and a 10-year extension of its concession, reinforcing Barcelona’s position as one of the Mediterranean’s leading superyacht refit destinations.

The investment plan includes the addition of 4,000 square metres of operational space, the complete rehabilitation of the shipyard’s 220-metre dry dock, upgrades to the Western Dock (Muelle Occidental), and new heavy-lift capabilities designed to accommodate an increasing number of complex refit projects.

Among the key additions are a new 680-tonne telescopic Travelift, capable of handling yachts up to 55 metres, and a 110-tonne electric Travelift dedicated to tenders and smaller vessels, improving operational efficiency across the yard.

Sustainability remains a central pillar of MB92’s strategy. Through its AiguaNova initiative, the shipyard continues to reduce freshwater consumption by reusing treated greywater for yacht washing, facility cleaning and cooling systems, while new wastewater treatment infrastructure will further enhance environmental performance.

The announcement comes shortly after Squircle Capital completed the acquisition of 100% ownership of MB92 Group, strengthening the company’s long-term investment strategy.

Looking beyond 2028, MB92 plans additional investment in new workshops, buildings and employee facilities, with the objective of extending its concession through 2055, ensuring the shipyard remains at the forefront of the global superyacht refit industry.

With increasing demand for large and technically complex refit projects, MB92 Barcelona’s latest investment confirms its commitment to innovation, sustainability and delivering world-class services to the international superyacht fleet.
