German shipyard Lloyd Werft has been officially selected as the construction partner for the ambitious 155-metre superyacht Beyond Horizons, the flagship project of the newly launched Maybach Ocean Club.

Unveiled during the 2025 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the concept introduces what its creators describe as the world’s first invitation-only private members’ club at sea, combining ultra-luxury travel, exclusive ownership and a global community of like-minded individuals.
The project is being developed by Splendid Sea, founded by superyacht captain Matthias Bosse and hospitality entrepreneur Michael Hehn, in collaboration with Mercedes-Maybach, naval architects Dölker + Voges and Lloyd Werft.

Designed as a floating private sanctuary, Beyond Horizons will offer an entirely new approach to luxury yachting. The vessel will feature 30 spacious residential-style suites, each measuring approximately 74 square metres and equipped with private balconies, accommodating up to 72 members and guests. Six additional guest cabins will be available for visiting friends and family.
Luxury amenities on board will include multiple fine-dining venues, panoramic lounges, wellness and spa facilities, a split-level infinity pool, expansive sundecks and a marina-style beach club with direct access to the sea. Guests will also enjoy curated cultural programming, live entertainment, art exhibitions and exclusive experiences designed to foster meaningful connections among members.
Inspired by the elegant design language of Mercedes-Maybach, the yacht’s exterior will feature sculpted lines, elongated proportions and sophisticated detailing, highlighted by the brand’s signature rose-gold accents.

Unlike traditional superyachts, the Maybach Ocean Club is built around a private community concept, with membership limited to approximately 300 carefully selected individuals worldwide. Seasonal itineraries are planned across the Mediterranean during summer and the Caribbean during winter, complemented by partnerships with luxury brands, concierge services and private clubs around the globe.
The official signing ceremony between Lloyd Werft, Maybach Ocean Club and Mercedes-Benz Design marks a major milestone as the project moves from concept into construction.
“Today marks a defining moment for Maybach Ocean Club as we move from vision towards construction,” said Captain Matthias Bosse, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Maybach Ocean Club. “Together with Lloyd Werft, we are creating a true icon of contemporary luxury at sea.”

Thorsten Rönner, Shareholder and Managing Director of Lloyd Werft, added that the project represents an innovative new direction for the future of yachting, opening opportunities for entirely new market segments and user experiences.
Scheduled for delivery in 2029, Beyond Horizons aims to redefine luxury hospitality at sea, blending the exclusivity of a private members’ club with the freedom and adventure of global yachting.
If realised as envisioned, the project could become one of the most significant and disruptive developments in the luxury maritime sector in recent years.
