French shipyard JFA Yachts has delivered CANOA, a 49.9-metre explorer yacht developed with Humphreys Yacht Design and designed for efficient, long-range cruising.
The yacht is the largest ever built by JFA Yachts and features an innovative aluminium hull combined with composite superstructures. The lightweight construction reduces weight aloft and lowers the centre of gravity, improving stability, efficiency and performance.
CANOA is powered by a parallel hybrid propulsion system, combining two MTU 12V 2000 M72 diesel engines with electric motors. Batteries and solar panels further support onboard energy efficiency, while a Dynamic Positioning System allows the yacht to maintain position without anchoring where conditions permit.
With a range of more than 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots, CANOA has been conceived for genuine ocean exploration and extended voyages to remote destinations.
Her four-deck interior was designed by Milan-based m2atelier, while the expansive aft deck can accommodate two tenders of up to 9.5 metres.
According to JFA Yachts, sea trials confirmed the yacht’s strong seakeeping performance and the successful integration of her advanced technical systems.
CANOA represents a significant step forward for JFA Yachts, combining traditional French craftsmanship with lightweight construction, hybrid technology and true long-range exploration capability.
