Informa Prestige Launches The Future of Refit, a Dedicated Superyacht Refit Event in Monaco

-

The global superyacht refit sector is set to gain its own dedicated international platform as Informa Prestige launches The Future of Refit, a new industry event focused exclusively on the growing maintenance, modernisation and refurbishment market.

Scheduled to take place from 31 March to 2 April 2027 at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco, with an on-water showcase hosted at the Yacht Club de Monaco, the event aims to bring together shipyards, yacht owners, designers, suppliers and refit specialists to explore the future of one of the fastest-growing sectors in the superyacht industry.

A Market Worth Billions

The refit market has become an essential pillar of the global superyacht industry. With more than 6,000 active superyachts over 30 metres worldwide, owners typically invest around 10% of a yacht’s value annually in maintenance and operations, while major refit projects are generally undertaken every five to ten years.

Industry estimates place the global refit and maintenance market between $3 billion and $5 billion annually, accounting for more than one-third of the industry’s overall economic activity. Continued fleet growth, increasing technical complexity and stricter environmental regulations are expected to drive sustained expansion over the coming years.

Responding to Industry Demand

The launch of The Future of Refit comes as leading shipyards continue to face record order books for new-build projects, extending delivery timelines well into the future.

As a result, many owners and buyers are increasingly choosing to acquire existing yachts and undertake comprehensive refit programmes rather than wait years for a new construction. At the same time, upgrades focused on sustainability, hybrid technologies, energy efficiency and modern onboard systems are becoming an integral part of yacht ownership.

The new Monaco event is designed to address these evolving market dynamics by creating a dedicated meeting point for professionals involved in yacht renewal and lifecycle management.

A Platform for Innovation and Collaboration

Alongside its exhibition, The Future of Refit will feature a comprehensive conference programme bringing together industry leaders to discuss innovation, sustainability and best practices across the refit sector.

A key attraction will be Refit Live, an interactive forum featuring keynote presentations, expert panel discussions and real-world case studies examining successful refit projects, emerging technologies and future trends.

The programme will encourage dialogue between owners, designers, captains, project managers, shipyards and technical specialists, highlighting the increasing importance of refit within the global superyacht ecosystem.

Monaco at the Centre of the Industry

By choosing Monaco as its permanent home, Informa Prestige is reinforcing the Principality’s position as one of the world’s leading centres for superyacht business.

Held just before the Mediterranean yachting season begins, the event is strategically positioned to become an annual meeting point for the international refit community, complementing the industry’s existing calendar while focusing exclusively on the lifecycle, maintenance and evolution of today’s superyacht fleet.

As demand for refurbishment, sustainability upgrades and technical innovation continues to grow, The Future of Refit is set to become an important new platform shaping the next generation of superyacht maintenance and modernisation.
