The race against the clock has officially begun for Ibiza JoySail 2026, with the Perpetual Trophy window now open and superyachts given until 16 September to challenge the fastest times on the 48-nautical-mile route from Punta Cala Figuera in Mallorca to Tagomago in Ibiza.
The record to beat is 3 hours and 31 minutes, set by Maximus in 2024 to establish the outright Perpetual Trophy benchmark. The trophy also recognises records across different yacht categories, with Gelliceaux holding the 100+ category record after completing the course in 4 hours, 4 minutes and 3 seconds.
Among the potential challengers this year are Win Win, Gelliceaux, Point Counter Point, Fortissimo and Rose. With the challenge running until midnight on 16 September, teams can choose their moment carefully, waiting for the ideal combination of wind, sea conditions and yacht performance.
The Perpetual Trophy provides an exciting prelude to the sixth edition of Ibiza JoySail, taking place in Ibiza and Formentera from 17–20 September. The event continues to combine competitive superyacht racing with a strong Corinthian spirit.
For 2026, Ibiza JoySail has also introduced the Owner Driver Award, recognising the first yacht in each class whose owner spends the majority of the race at the helm, including the start of every trial.
The Corinthian Trophy will once again celebrate yachts competing in their standard configuration, with their usual equipment, a limited selection of racing sails and a reduced crew.
With the clock already running, the question is now simple: can any of this year’s contenders beat Maximus and rewrite the Mallorca–Ibiza record?
