American studio Gary Grant Design has revealed an ambitious 153-metre hybrid superyacht concept that, if realised, would become the largest hybrid superyacht in the world. Conceived to operate at true giga-yacht scale, the project aims to redefine the relationship between design, performance, and sustainability.

At the heart of the concept is an advanced hybrid propulsion architecture, developed over a 12-month design process and supported by extensive mathematical performance modelling. The system is engineered to deliver zero-emission capability in sensitive environments, while still enabling exceptional top speeds of up to 50 knots—a rare combination at this scale.
“This design has been in the works for 12 months and has been developed around the propulsion system as well as numerous mathematical performance models,” explained Gary Grant, founder of the studio.
High-Performance Hybrid Engineering
Power comes from a sophisticated propulsion package combining Wärtsilä 31 engines, a hybrid-electric system with large-scale energy storage, and electric drives powering two waterjets. For maximum performance, twin Rolls-Royce MT30 engines drive two additional Wärtsilä waterjets, creating a propulsion setup designed for both efficiency and extreme speed.
The hybrid configuration allows for silent, battery-electric cruising in marine reserves and eco-regulated ports, while a smart energy management system optimises power distribution to reduce environmental impact across all operating modes.
Design, Wellness, and Privacy
True to Gary Grant Design’s reputation for bold, sculptural forms—seen previously in projects such as Crazy Me, Adler II, and Margaux—the 153-metre concept features a striking exterior defined by formed and sculpted glass. Expansive glazing shapes the yacht’s profile and floods the interior with natural light.
Inside, the yacht is designed around wellness, entertainment, and privacy. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls and ceiling heights exceeding 5.2 metres in the main saloon create a dramatic sense of volume, while an open-plan layout enhances flow and flexibility. A convertible beach club further blurs the boundary between interior and exterior, offering immersive indoor-outdoor living at sea.
A Vision of the Future
With its combination of ultra-high performance, hybrid sustainability, and architectural design, Gary Grant Design’s 153-metre concept presents a compelling vision of what the next generation of giga-yachts could become—where environmental responsibility and extreme capability coexist at unprecedented scale.
If built, this project would not only set a new benchmark for hybrid superyachts, but also signal a bold step forward for innovation at the very top end of the yachting world.
