German shipyard Dörries Yachts has announced a new agreement to lease construction facilities at the Maritime Industry and Business Park – Volkswerft Stralsund, strengthening its industrial footprint in Northern Germany.
The move gives Dörries Yachts access to one of the region’s most established maritime hubs, expanding its capacity across refit, conversion, and new-build projects at a time of growing demand for high-end custom yacht services.
A Strategic Maritime Hub
Located on a 50-hectare industrial site, Volkswerft Stralsund offers extensive infrastructure including heavy-lift capabilities, direct road, rail, and sea connections, and a well-developed network of maritime suppliers and engineering specialists.
A key feature of the facility is its ship lift system, capable of handling vessels up to 34 metres wide and 290 metres in length, making it suitable for large-scale yacht and commercial projects.
Around 20 maritime and industrial companies are already based at the site, creating a collaborative ecosystem built on shipbuilding expertise and technical know-how.
Strengthening Industrial Capability
According to Henning Dörries, CEO of Dörries Yachts, the location provides exactly the type of environment the company was seeking.
He highlighted the combination of infrastructure, technical capability, and maritime expertise as key factors enabling the yard to scale its operations while maintaining its engineering-driven approach.
The company also emphasised that the Stralsund site offers more than additional space, describing it as a platform designed to support efficient delivery of ambitious projects.
Expanding Services for Owners
With demand increasing for complex refit and custom yacht projects, the new facility enhances Dörries Yachts’ ability to serve owners, representatives, and industry partners across a wider scope of work.
The shipyard is expected to begin operations immediately, marking a new phase in its expansion within the German shipbuilding sector.
The agreement reinforces Stralsund’s position as a key Northern European maritime hub, while providing Dörries Yachts with the infrastructure needed to scale its future superyacht projects.
