CRN Launches 70m Fully Custom Superyacht Project Thunderball

Italian shipyard CRN, part of the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona, has officially launched its latest fully bespoke creation — the 70-metre superyacht Project Thunderball — during an exclusive private ceremony attended by the owner and family.

The launch marks another milestone in CRN’s long tradition of delivering fully custom steel and aluminium superyachts, where engineering precision and owner-driven design converge into highly individual vessels.

A Fully Bespoke Collaboration

Project Thunderball represents a close collaboration between leading international design and technical teams.

CRN led the naval architecture, engineering, and construction of the yacht, leveraging its extensive expertise in large custom metal builds. The exterior design and general arrangement were developed by Vripack Yacht Design, while Nauta Design shaped the interiors and exterior living areas with a strong focus on comfort, flow, and livability.

The project was managed and overseen by Y.CO, acting as the owner’s representative throughout the construction process, ensuring technical precision and continuity from concept to launch.

Key Specifications

  • Length overall: 70 metres
  • Beam: 11 metres
  • Gross tonnage: 1,100 GT
  • Accommodation: 12 guests across owner and VIP suites
  • Crew: 15 across 9 cabins

Design Philosophy

The yacht is defined by a sleek, sailboat-inspired profile, featuring an elongated bow, flowing exterior lines, and carefully balanced proportions.

Vripack’s exterior concept focuses on elegance and continuity, while Nauta’s interior design extends this language inside, creating a seamless dialogue between indoor and outdoor spaces. The result is a yacht where geometry, scale, and materials are consistently interpreted across every deck.

The interior concept is intentionally timeless, drawing inspiration from maritime heritage while integrating a refined contemporary lifestyle approach. Every detail has been shaped through close collaboration with the owner, ensuring a fully personalised onboard experience.

Technology & Efficiency

Project Thunderball is also equipped with an Energy Storage System, enhancing onboard efficiency and operational flexibility.

This system allows:

  • Silent operation at anchor
  • Peak shaving for energy optimisation
  • Reduced fuel consumption
  • Improved overall energy management

These solutions reflect CRN’s continued focus on integrating advanced technology within bespoke yacht design.

Final Stages Toward Delivery

Following her launch, Project Thunderball will now enter the next phase of outfitting, with interior completion, final system integration, and sea trials scheduled over the coming months.

Delivery of the yacht is expected in summer 2026, marking the completion of a fully custom project defined by craftsmanship, collaboration, and technical excellence.

Project Thunderball stands as a new expression of CRN’s bespoke philosophy — where design freedom, engineering innovation, and owner vision come together in a singular superyacht creation.
