The Azimut-Benetti Group has announced a €100 million investment programme to expand its superyacht operations across Tuscany, reinforcing the region’s position as the heart of the company’s yacht-building activities. The announcement coincided with the traditional slipway launch of Benetti’s latest Class 44M superyacht, M/Y Lumina, at the shipyard in Viareggio.
The investment follows a period of exceptional growth for the Italian yacht builder, with production value rising from €758 million in 2020 to €1.56 billion in 2025. Scheduled to run between 2026 and 2028, the programme will focus on increasing production capacity, enhancing engineering capabilities, and expanding the company’s refit operations.
Tuscany remains central to the group’s superyacht business, with 14 industrial sites across Viareggio, Livorno, Massa, and Pisa, accounting for approximately 70% of Azimut-Benetti’s global operations. The latest investment builds on the €77 million already invested in the region over the past three years.
Planned developments include new production facilities, upgraded travel lifts, improved safety systems, expanded photovoltaic installations, modernised client and management areas, and the development of new yacht models and technologies. The investment will also support the continued growth of Lusben, the group’s refit division.
The expansion is expected to further strengthen employment in the region. Since 2020, direct employment at the group’s Tuscan facilities has increased from 442 to 607 employees, while around 3,800 people now work across the company’s regional operations each day, including specialists from more than 1,000 supplier companies.
Azimut-Benetti is also continuing to invest in education and workforce development through its partnership with the Italian Super Yacht Life (ISYL) Foundation, which has trained more than 600 graduates for careers in the superyacht industry since 2015.
The investment announcement comes as Benetti celebrated the launch of the 44-metre M/Y Lumina, designed by Cassetta Yacht Designers. Scheduled for delivery in summer 2026, the four-deck superyacht represents both the shipyard’s ongoing commitment to traditional craftsmanship and its ambitious plans for future growth.
With this significant investment, Azimut-Benetti continues to strengthen its leadership in the global superyacht market while reinforcing Tuscany’s reputation as one of the world’s premier centres for luxury yacht construction.
