A new international platform focused on the blue economy is set to debut in the Middle East with the launch of ABOFA – Aqaba Blue Ocean: Future in Action, scheduled to take place from 9–12 September 2026 at the Aqaba International Exhibition Center.
Organised by 1st Arabia and Fira Barcelona, in partnership with the Aqaba Development Corporation, the event aims to establish itself as the region’s flagship gathering for industries connected to oceans, marine innovation and coastal tourism.
A regional hub for the blue economy
ABOFA has been created as a strategic meeting point for professionals across the marine sector, including diving, ocean technology, watersports, boating lifestyle and marine sciences. The exhibition will bring together international brands, innovators and industry leaders to showcase the latest technologies and solutions shaping the future of ocean-related industries.
The event will feature a combination of exhibition spaces, live demonstrations and networking activities designed to attract both business professionals and enthusiasts. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore new equipment, discover emerging technologies and participate in curated business meetings that encourage partnerships and investment across the sector.
Aqaba at the center of marine innovation
Located on the Red Sea, Aqaba provides an ideal setting for the event. The city is known for its rich marine biodiversity and world-class diving sites, and it has increasingly positioned itself as a strategic hub for marine tourism, innovation and sustainable coastal development.
Through ABOFA, Jordan aims to highlight its initiatives in marine conservation and sustainable tourism, demonstrating how environmental protection, technological innovation and economic development can coexist within the framework of the blue economy.
A new international meeting point
As interest in ocean industries continues to grow worldwide, ABOFA is expected to attract global exhibitors, investors and policymakers seeking opportunities across marine technology, tourism and water-based activities. The event also aims to strengthen collaboration between Europe, the Middle East and Africa while positioning Aqaba as a key destination for the region’s expanding blue economy sector.
With its focus on innovation, sustainability and international cooperation, ABOFA is poised to become a major annual gathering for professionals shaping the future of ocean industries and coastal economies.
