A New Horizon for Superyachts: Saudi Arabia Opens the Red Sea to the World

The Red Sea has long been defined by its natural beauty, biodiversity, and sense of mystery. Today, it is entering a new era. At the Monaco Yacht Show 2025, the Saudi Tourism Authority officially unveiled the Super Yacht Arabia campaign, positioning Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coastline as one of the world’s most compelling emerging luxury yachting destinations.

The announcement reflects the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 strategy to expand marine tourism, attract global superyacht traffic, and open its coastline to the international yachting community in a way that combines exclusivity with long-term environmental stewardship.

The Scale of Saudi Arabia’s Yachting Ambition

Presenting the campaign in Monaco, Fahd Hamidaddin, CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority, underlined the sheer scale of the opportunity. Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coastline stretches for more than 1,800 kilometres, supported by an investment commitment of SAR 84 billion dedicated to marine infrastructure and tourism development.

This scale allows the Kingdom to develop an entirely new yachting ecosystem: modern marinas, luxury ports, private island destinations, and seamless services designed specifically for yacht owners, captains, charter operators, and guests. Rather than replicating existing Mediterranean models, Saudi Arabia is shaping a new Riviera, defined by space, privacy, and unspoiled nature.

Why Monaco Was the Natural Launch Platform

Launching the campaign at the Monaco Yacht Show placed the Red Sea directly in front of the global superyacht industry’s key decision-makers. Hosted at Port Hercules, the Saudi Tourism Authority’s pavilion featured immersive digital experiences showcasing Red Sea destinations, alongside hospitality elements inspired by Saudi culture.

Over the four-day event, the Authority engaged with nearly 100 international organisations, laying the groundwork for partnerships, charter activity, and long-term collaboration. Monaco was not just a stage—it was a strategic gateway to the global yachting network.

Key Red Sea Yachting Destinations

The Super Yacht Arabia campaign highlights a growing portfolio of destinations designed to form a connected cruising itinerary along the Saudi coast.

Sindalah Island (NEOM)
Sindalah is set to become one of the Red Sea’s flagship yachting hubs. Its 86-berth marina accommodates yachts from 50 to 180 metres, supported by a Stefano Ricci–designed yacht club, luxury hospitality, fine dining, and an 18-hole golf course.

Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina
Located alongside the Formula 1 Saudi Grand Prix circuit, Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina offers deep-water berths for yachts up to 120 metres. The marina is supported by Aramco’s first dedicated marine fuel station, ensuring efficient and reliable operations for visiting yachts.

Red Sea Global Destinations
Further along the coast, developments such as AMAALA, Thuwal Private Retreat, and The Red Sea destination introduce a blend of wellness, eco-luxury, and private island experiences. From coral reefs to desert landscapes, these destinations allow owners and guests to balance exploration, relaxation, and cultural discovery.

Together, these locations form a coherent cruising route—one that combines modern infrastructure with untouched natural environments.

Simplified Yacht Regulations and Services

Saudi Arabia has implemented a regulatory framework designed to make access to its waters efficient and transparent. Key features include:

  • Fast-track yacht licensing, approved within 24 hours
  • Clear and structured charter regulations
  • Environmental protection requirements embedded into every permit
  • Full-service support via licensed maritime tourism agents, covering customs, immigration, fueling, waste management, safety, and emergency protocols

The aim is to ensure that arrivals, operations, and departures are handled smoothly, whether for private yachts or charter vessels.

What Sets the Red Sea Apart

Beyond infrastructure, the Red Sea’s natural assets are central to the campaign’s appeal. The region is home to one of the world’s largest coral reef systems, with more than 500 dive sites and exceptional marine biodiversity. Of the approximately 1,000 islands along the coast, only 25 will be developed, preserving the vast majority of the area in its natural state.

This approach reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to regenerative tourism—where luxury development and environmental protection progress together, rather than in conflict.

A Strategic Position in Global Yachting

Geographically, the Saudi Red Sea occupies a unique position, linking Europe, Asia, and Africa. Combined with modern infrastructure, cultural depth, and long-term investment, the Super Yacht Arabia campaign signals that Saudi Arabia is positioning itself as a serious player in the global yachting landscape.

Sailing Into a New Era

The launch of Super Yacht Arabia marks a defining moment for the region. It is not simply about attracting yachts, but about creating a destination where nature, culture, and contemporary luxury coexist along one of the world’s most dramatic coastlines.

As the global yachting community turns its attention to the Red Sea, Saudi Arabia is inviting owners, captains, and charter clients to discover waters that remain largely untouched—yet fully prepared for a new era of exploration.
