Dutch shipyard Feadship has announced the launch of its 89.6-metre superyacht Project 828, also known as Project Milky Way, from its facilities in Amsterdam.
The highly secretive new build was first seen in transport to outfitting from the yard’s Nieuw-Lekkerland facility in May last year. Now launched, Feadship confirms the yacht was developed from a private client brief focused on creating a highly flexible onboard environment designed for both active living and relaxation.
A Bold Exterior Vision
The exterior design is the work of Studio De Voogt, reflecting Feadship’s forward-looking design language. The yacht features a strong vertical bow, long aft volume, and clean, straight lines that emphasize expansive deck spaces.
A standout element is the 16.7-metre swimming pool located on the main deck, described by Feadship as a true centrepiece of the design and lifestyle onboard.
Lead designer Matt Bacon noted:
“We refined the language with a very strong vertical bow and an emphasis on long structural lines. The mast has a very strong character to balance the volumes of the superstructure.”
Interior by RWD
The interiors, developed by RWD, remain largely undisclosed, but are described as soft, flowing, and highly cohesive in spatial design. The layout focuses on free-flowing circulation and seamless transitions between guest and owner areas.
Senior associate designer David Waite-Wright commented that the collaboration with Feadship is built on trust and experience, allowing continuous refinement across projects.
Engineering & Specifications
Project 828 is built on a full-displacement steel hull with a volume of 2,623 GT, a beam of 13.6 metres, and a loaded draught of 3.7 metres.
Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects handled naval architecture, ensuring performance aligns with the yacht’s expansive volume and lifestyle-driven layout.
Strong Pipeline Ahead for Feadship
The launch comes during a busy period for the Dutch shipyard, which currently has 17 superyacht projects under construction.
Among them are:
- 101.2m Project 1014, currently undergoing sea trials
- 80m Project 826, recently spotted en route to final outfitting
This reinforces Feadship’s position at the forefront of the global custom superyacht market.
