The 62-metre sailing yacht Simena, the flagship of Turkish shipyard Ares Yachts, has officially departed the yard’s facilities in Antalya and is now heading to the Mediterranean for her highly anticipated debut in Monaco.

The new sailing superyacht is scheduled to berth at the marina of the Yacht Club de Monaco on 22 March, where she will take part in the club’s Day of Exploration programme and several related activities, including a friendly regatta.
A New Flagship for Ares Yachts
Simena represents the first yacht from Ares Yachts in the 60-metre-plus segment, marking a significant milestone for the Turkish builder. The yacht completed successful sea trials in July 2025, demonstrating strong performance with a top sailing speed of 14 knots and notable agility and balance.

The ketch was built to RINA Class C in a steel and carbon-composite structure, with naval architecture and exterior design by Taka Yacht Design. Her elegant profile draws inspiration from historic clipper ships, particularly visible in her pronounced bow with a full bowsprit and traditional trail board.
Classic Character with Contemporary Comfort
The yacht’s exterior styling emphasizes classic sailing heritage, featuring teak decks, varnished Sipo mahogany detailing, and a timeless silhouette reminiscent of traditional ocean-going vessels. Her name pays tribute to the ancient maritime heritage of the historic Turkish city of Simena.

Interiors were designed by Design Unlimited, blending classical elegance with modern minimalism. Walnut finishes, neutral tones, textured fabrics and antiqued brass accents create a refined yet relaxed onboard atmosphere. Bathrooms incorporate patterned tiles alongside Calacatta Oro and Patagonia White marble.

Accommodation onboard is arranged for up to 12 guests, supported by a crew of nine.
Technology and Hybrid Performance
While inspired by the golden age of sailing, Simena integrates advanced technology throughout. A hybrid propulsion system offers six operating modes, enabling silent cruising in electric mode at up to 8 knots, with an impressive 6,000-nautical-mile range at 7 knots.

Under diesel power, the yacht can reach 14 knots, with a cruising speed of 9 knots and a range of approximately 4,000 nautical miles. Under sail, performance is expected to reach 16 knots in 20-knot winds.
Guests will also have access to a dedicated smartphone control application, allowing them to manage onboard entertainment and AV systems seamlessly.
Mediterranean Season Ahead
Following her Monaco appearance, Simena is expected to begin her first Mediterranean season while also being offered for sale through Northrop & Johnson.
The departure of Simena marks an important step for Ares Yachts as the shipyard continues to expand its portfolio of large sailing and motor yachts, with additional projects currently under construction.
